Import / Export Invoice Descriptions for Compounds

I am working with a client who imports and exports clinical supplies (to include chemical compounds and drugs) for pharma and biotech clinical trials.
We are building a materials database and are including in it a column for “Invoice Description.” With the understanding that the descriptions must be inclusive enough to satisfy customs, we are also working to use descriptions that do not reveal confidential (IP) information.
I’ve seen where the IUPAC name was used (seems like that could be revealing IP), the CAS # (when available seemed too general), and a company assigned material number also seemed too general.
Has anyone within the membership assigned / determined standard or generalized descriptions for pharmaceuticals / chemical compounds to use on invoices that, both, satisfy Customs authorities and do not reveal trade secrets?
Would the membership be willing to share a naming process or recommendations how to go about standardizing / generalizing descriptions for pharmaceuticals / chemical compounds?
